OBJECTIVE

The Convergent Science Network of biomimetic and biohybrid systems (CSN) is a coordination action (CA) for the development of future real-world technologies, supported by the European Commission under the Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) program (ICT, FP7). CSN organizes this school to provide a wide spectrum overview on experimental tools available to investigate brain functions. Particular emphasis is given on methods suitable to explore neuronal signals and their processing in neuronal networks and in the brain which is considered as a fundamental step towards the development of brain-inspired artificial systems and brain-machine interfaces.

The school targets doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers, scientists working in the related fields. Since the school's topics are interdisciplinary covering neurobiology, neuronal biophysics, microscopy, and electronics, preliminary knowledge in these fields is highly recommended.

REGISTRATION

To apply, please register (application page) on or before February 15, 2011. If you have any further questions, please contact neurochiplab@cyberrat.eu

The registration fee is 200 €. The school has several student scholarships. The scholarships cover the registration fee only. The candidates in need of the scholarship, should sent a separate letter of motivation with the application justifying the need.

LOCATION

The school will be hosted by the NeuroChip Laboratory, Department of Human Anatomy & Physiology (Institute of Physiology), University of Padova, Italy. The location is very close the city centre and is easily reachable from the railway or bus station of Padova. Please visit the contact page for detail description about how to reach the venue.
